Film Description

From the creators of Liza, the Fox-Fairy comes a romantic adventure comedy about some of our most universal desires: love, family and the dream of finding a fortune that could change everything. Because, if we're honest, who hasn't dreamed of finding the one – or being the lucky person who wins the jackpot or stumbles upon a hidden family fortune?

The story unfolds across two parallel timelines, as two generations of women set out to find the same family treasure. In 1968, at the height of the beat era, the irresistibly charismatic and utterly ruthless Eszter returns to Budapest from France in search of 40 kilos of gold her grandfather hid during the Holocaust. In 2024, her granddaughter Ági, a reserved adopted swimmer from the Hungarian countryside, sets out to find the same treasure in the hope of funding an expensive operation that could save her career and get her to the Paris Olympics.

Though separated by decades, the two women look strikingly alike, and their parallel adventures lead them through lessons in trust, betrayal, family and the power of love. But uncovering the treasure and the secrets of the past puts more than their identities at stake. As dangerous interests close in, they discover that there is far more at stake than getting rich: their lives. In the end, both must confront the same question – what matters more, gold or blood?

The premiere of the first two episodes of Golden Age will be presented as a collaboration between RTL+ and BIFF.
