The latest feature from the directing duo behind Ghostlight and Saint Frances premiered in the Panorama section of the 2026 Berlinale. Featuring outstanding performances by Academy Award nominee Sophie Okonedo and rising star Katherine Mallen Kupferer, Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson's coming-of-age drama is a tender, gently humorous exploration of the intricate ties between friendship, family, grief, and identity. Mouse explores the delicate complexities of intergenerational relationships, while examining how the loss of a defining bond shapes us and how we learn to live with the void it leaves behind.

Berlinale 2026 – Premieres, World Premiere

Kelly O'Sullivan is a writer, director, and actor. Her debut screenplay, Saint Frances (2019), won both the Audience Award and Special Jury Award at SXSW, earning her Gotham and Independent Spirit nominations. Her second feature, Ghostlight (2024), premiered at Sundance and was named one of the National Board of Review’s Top 10 Independent Films of the Year. Together with her creative partner Alex Thompson, she co-directed the features Mouse and The Steel Harp, both written by O’Sullivan.

Alex Thompson is a director, producer, and screenwriter. He gained recognition as the director and producer of Saint Frances, followed by Rounding (2022) and Ghostlight (2024), further establishing himself as a major voice in American independent cinema. His work has received Gotham and Independent Spirit Award nominations.
